Fire ravages Federalsburg home

Fire crews are investigating the scene of a house fire in Federalsburg, MD. It appears the flames are now under control, but crews will continue to monitor the house for any hot spots which may flare up again.

Initial assessments of the house on Rose Street show that it appears to be a total loss.

We’re told the initial emergency call was made around 8:00 PM Wednesday evening, by neighbors. A number of fire companies responded to the scene to get the flames under control. There were first responders, trucks, and tankers from Federalsburg, Seaford, Bridgeville, Hurlock and Preston.

47 ABC spoke with Federalsburg Fire Chief Joseph Holland who explained how the flames completely destroyed the front end of the house.

While fighting the fire, Holland had to call in additional tankers due to a brief loss of water.

It’s still not clear what ignited the flames, but members of the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.

Apparently, the house was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
