Nutrisca recalls dog food, due to potential Salmonella contamination

A heads up for pet owners, a local grocery store chain has removed a batch of dog food from their shelves due to the potential for bacterial food borne illnesses. Giant Food, LLC has announced that they have pulled Tuffy’s Pet Foods, Inc.’s Nutrisca Chicken & Chick Pea Dog Food from inventory, because of possible Salmonella contamination.
The following product is included in this recall:
· Nutrisca Chicken & Chick Pea Dog Food, 4 lb., UPC 88424412495, with the following first five digits of the Lot Code and Best By Dates:
o Lot Codes beginning with: 4G29P, 4G31P, 4H01P, 4H04P, 4H05P and 4H06P
o Best By Dates of: 7/28/16, 7/30/16, 7/31/16, 8/03/16, 8/04/16 and 8/05/16
Giant says they haven’t received and reports of any pet or human illness, but because Salmonella infections can be life-threatening, Officials are suggesting that customers throw away any unused portions. Customers can bring their purchase receipt back to Giant, for a full refund.
