Magnolia man arrested on drug and weapon charges

State police arrested a Magnolia man on Friday, following a two-month long investigation involving illegal drug sales.
According to authorities, 44-year-old Dewayne Medler was arrested around 9:53 a.m. at his home on Pepper Drive. Police say Medler was wanted for multiple charges for the delivery of heroin. During the search, authorities say they found ninety bags of heroin weighing about 1.35 grams, 600 dollars, and a 12-gauge shotgun that was reportedly stolen.
Medler was charged with Manufacture, Delivers, or Possesses with the Intent to Manufacture, Deliver a Controlled Substance, Possess a Controlled Substance in a Tier 1 Quantity, Possessing a Destructive Weapon, Possession of a Weapon with a Removed, Obliterated or Altered Serial Number, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Receiving a Stolen Firearm. He has been committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of $16,500.00 secured bond.
The two-month long investigation included the Kent County Drug Unit with the assistance of the Governor’s Task Force (GTF), Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU), Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Evidence Detection Unit (EDU), and the State Police Special Operations Response Team (SORT).
