Stun gun attack in Fruitland lands one behind bars

A Fruitland man is behind bars, after he reportedly assaulted someone with a stun gun on the street.

Fruitland Police say on Tuesday, Officers responded to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for reports of a patient who had been assaulted in Fruitland. After speaking with the victim, Police say they learned that the victim was walking near S. Dulany Avenue and Green Street, when they were assaulted with a stun gun several times and punched repeatedly in the face. Police say the victim’s injuries corroborated with their account.

The victim apparently knew the suspect, and identified him as 20-year-old Dashawn Rivers. Rivers was then found at a home on N. Dulany Avenue, and taken into custody. He was charged with robbery, assault 1st and 2nd degree, reckless endangerment, and theft.

Rivers was apparently wanted on two other warrants. He is now being held at the Wicomico County Detention Center.
