Two arrested in Dover drug bust

Dover Police report an arrest from a collaboration of the Department’s Drug Unit and Safe Streets Unit, as well as Delaware State Police. Miranda Hart, 27, and Jessie Mahoney, 39, were arrested Wednesday in the Dover Downs Casino parking lot (1131 North DuPont Highway) in connection with an ongoing drug investigation.
Police say Hart was pulled over Wednesday, and the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Upon a search, police say Hart had 6.3 grams on her. Police say a further search led to 13 more bags.
Hart reportedly told police she was on the way to meet Mahoney to conduct a drug deal. Police say during the traffic stop, Mahoney approached Hart’s vehicle, but fled from police. Mahoney reportedly kicked an officer in the face while attempting to flee, before he was taken into custody.
According to police, both suspects were arrested. Hart has been charged with possession of heroin, possession of marijuana with aggravating factor, possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released $2,200 unsecured bond.
Mahoney was charged with Jessie Mahoney, resisting arrest with force (felony), offensive touching of law enforcement officer. He was also released. Police did not reveal his bond information.
