Raccoon in Somerset Co. tests positive for rabies
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Somerset County Health Department has announced that a raccoon in the Princess Anne area has tested positive for rabies.
We’re told the raccoon was located on West Ridge Road in Princess Anne and was tested due to an exposure of a domestic animal on Monday.
Health officials are reminding citizens to take precautions to protect themselves and their families from possible exposure to rabies, including reporting any sick or strange wildlife and keeping children and pets away from wild animals. All animal bites or scratches should be reported to the health department.
