Traffic stop for speeding leads to recovery of marijuana
LAUREL, Del. – A traffic stop Wednesday night in Laurel led to multiple charges for a Rehoboth Beach man.
Just after 9 p.m., a trooper on routine patrol traveling eastbound on County Seat Highway east of Sussex Highway reportedly saw a vehicle driving westbound at 75 mph in a 50 mph zone. A traffic stop was initiated, and contact was made with the driver, later identified as 21-year-old Brandon Camper.
During the stop, an odor of marijuana was detected, and a drug investigation ensued. A probable search cause of the vehicle led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia and approximately 166.12 grams of marijuana. It was also revealed through a computer check that Camper had an active capias out of the Justice of the Peace Court for failing to appear.
Camper was subsequently arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended, and speeding, before being released on his own recognizance.
