$34K going to Wicomico County for new marketing and advertising study
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md.- The County is set to get a boost for its small business community.
The County was awarded $34,000 from the Department of Agriculture.
U.S. Congressman Andy Harris said the money will help fund a marketing and advertising study.
The goal is to attract new tourism to the area, in turn helping small businesses.
Congressman Harris said often times studies like this can’t be done unless counties get help.
So, this support will not only get the ball rolling on studies, but also open a window of opportunity.
“So what we’ve seen as a result of COVID there is actually a migration out of urban areas toward rural areas, so we know that with the right economic development plans that rural areas like Wicomico County and like the Lower Shore and Middle Shore of Maryland can attract businesses, can attract employees, and attract employers,” Congressman Harris said.
Congressman Harris said it will be up to Wicomico County on when and how they want to pursue the studies.
We are told the total study cost will run nearly $180,000 with the County and State funding the balance.
