Minimum wage hike proposed in Delaware

Democratic lawmakers are planning to introduce legislation that would raise Delaware’s minimum wage by $2.00 an hour over the next four years.
If passed, the legislation would raise wages 50 cents each year, ending in 2019 at $10.25 an hour.
“Studies have shown, improving the economic justice to one individual is going to have a beneficial repercussion on the totality of the economy,” says Representative Sean Lynn, a Democrat from Dover.
Many small businesses are opposed to increasing the minimum wage, because it would increase their expenses and cripple their ability to hire workers. Lynn argues that more money in the local economy would mean more money for those businesses.
Last year, a law was passed increasing minimum wage from $7.25 to $7.75. In June, there will be another bump to $8.25.
