Easter eggs “drop” over Laurel

Most people have seen the ordinary Easter egg hunt. They usually involve lots of candy and pastel plastic.
Helicopters are not usually a part of that equation. However, that’s not the case for The Central Worship Center in Laurel. The church has put their own spin on traditional Easter festivities. The church loaded about 2,000 eggs into a helicopter and then dropped over a field for Easter egg hunters.
Those eggs dropped from the sky fell on top of close to 15,000 eggs on the ground for about 2,000 kids in the community.
Tim Dukes, the senior pastor at the Central Worship Center says, “We have the Easter egg drop just to show the community that we love them, we care for them, and that we want to be the type of ministry that walks with people through life.”
This is the fourth year the church has held their “drop” and they tell 47 ABC every year it’s gotten bigger and bigger. Kids just can’t seem to get enough of a helicopter dropping candy filled eggs.
Rob Brown, the associate pastor at the Central Worship Center says, “The look on their faces is priceless.”
47 ABC saw the enthusiasm ourselves. However, the hunters say the real fun is in what you do after the eggs hit the ground. It’s all in the strategy.
Amelia Boyer says, “We didn’t think that most people would go to the back because all the eggs are in the front duh. We thought a lot of people would think that so we went to the back.”
Cole Bedel says, “I just hurried up and found a lot.” Bedel’s younger brother Chase says, “I got fifty- five.”
The joy Chase has, as well as the smiles of all the other children is what church members say the drop is all about.
The Central Worship Center is planning to have sky divers next year to help bring down some of the eggs at their drop.
They say anyone is welcome to join in on the festivities.
