Balanced offensive attack helps Parkside exact revenge on Stephen Decatur
La’Bron Hilliard scored the game’s first run, and had a crucial RBI, as the Parkside Rams defeated the only team that they’ve lost to this season, beating Stephen Decatur, 5-1 in Berlin on Wednesday afternoon.
Hilliard reached base on all four of his at bats, and got the scoring started for Parkside, using his speed on a wild pitch that barely got away from the catcher, to put the Rams up 1-0. Parkside starter and University of Maryland commit Hunter Parsons was dialed in, registering 13 strikeouts in 6 innings of work, and shutting out the dangerous Decatur offense for all but one inning.
In the sixth up 2-1, a Nick Forbush single scored Conner Shockley, and Hilliard would double to center, scoring Lucas Holmes. The Rams also got an insurance run in the top of the seventh, with Matt Smith reaching home off another hit by Conner Shockley.
Stephen Decatur will look to rebound, crossing state lines to take on Indian River, while Parkside will also face off against a next-state rival in Delmar.
