Salisbury “Die In” protest results in peaceful turnout

under unclear circumstances while in police custody. the demonstrations started peacefully — then escalated saturday — before erupting into riots monday. meanwhile on the shore — a demonstration billed as a peaceful vigil — was scheduled for tonight in downtown salisbury. 47 abc is live there now — michelle mackonochie joins us among the demonstrators — michelle give us a sense of what’s happening there. hey david i’m at the corner of main street and division street where the salisbury die in — was going on just a little while ago– as you can see everything has since cleared out and all 50 or so people that were here have headed home. i spoke with a few of them easier who told me they were here to mourn the loss of freddie gray– but not in a harmful way– they said they want to spread awareness of police brutality –and change in society as a whole– in a positive light. earlier today mayor ireton announced that he supported a peaceful vigil –and that’s exactly what went down tonight. i spoke with salisbury police pio rich kaiser and he says they were pleased with the peaceful turnout tonight. but for now– live in salisbury michelle mackonochie 47 abc. david
