Adkins No-No Paces Mardela Past WiHi

The Mardela softball team hit the road Thursday to take on Wicomico High School and came away with a 10-0 win. The win improves the Warriors to 14-3, while the loss drops the Indians to 8-8.

Mardela wasted little time, with the bats going right to work in the top of the first. Kristina Shank would rope a 2 RBI single to right. The bats remained hot, as Kalie Adkins would help her own cause with a RBI single to left. WiHi would try and get some traction in the bottom of the frame, but Adkins would be dealing from the bump and the Indians would have difficulty catching up with her. WiHi eventually found their groove though defensively, and came up with several nice plays including a great play at 3rd from Emily McIntyre. Mardela would just keep coming though, as they would close this one out for the win. Adkins would pitch a no-hitter while striking out 8. She was given plenty of support at the plate, as Sydney Goertzen, Baylee Littleton, Kasey Goshorn, Kalie Adkins, Sam Pope and Megan Roy each had 2 hits.

Mardela’s regular season finale will be Monday when they travel to play Crisfield, while WiHi awaits to find out who they will play next in playoffs.
