VanKirk Scores 100th, Seahawks Stay Perfect

The Stephen Decatur girls lacrosse team hit the road Friday afternoon and came away with a 16-3 win over Parkside. The win improves the Seahawks to 12-0, while the loss drops the Rams to 6-6.
The Seahawks wasted little time before going to work, as Blair Yesko would find Payton VanKirk cutting through the crease, and she would finish top shelf to give the Seahawks the lead. The goal was the 100th of the seniors career. Shortly after that, Lexi VanKirk would get into the scoring action with a goal of her own. The goals would continue to come for Decatur from there as they quickly built up a 7-1 lead. The Rams tried to get something going after Alivia Roskovich would score off a free position shot. But Decatur’s keeper Jillian Petitio would lock down from there, as the Seahawks would hold on for the win.
Stephen Decatur will return to action Tuesday in the Bayside Championship game where they will face Queen Anne’s, while Parkside awaits the release of the state championship tournament bracket.
