Rally draws hundreds in Baltimore

Hundreds rallied in Baltimore on Saturday, the day after six officers were charged in the death of Freddie Gray.

The rally was held at the War Memorial Plaza outside of City Hall in honor of the 25 year old, who died from a severe spinal injury while in police custody.

Hundreds of protestors also marched to rally from the Gilmore Homes housing project where Gray was arrested. The scene was much calmer compared to Monday night,  when chaos and riots ensued in Downtown Baltimore.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake was also in the community Saturday, lending a hand at a food drive.

“It’s amazing the way the community has come together.” Says Mayor Rawlings-Blake. “In our darkest days, I think a there is bright light is shining through and that’s the spirit of our community. People are really coming together in amazing ways and I just hope it continues as we heal our city and we work to rebuild.”

Similar peaceful demonstrations like the one in front of City Hall have reportedly been planned in cities across the U.S., from Boston to Beverly Hills.
