On To The Ship! SU Softball Downs CNU To Move On

The Salisbury University softball team is moving on to the National Championships after they took down Christopher Newport in the Super Regional game 5-0 Saturday. The win improves the Sea Gulls to 35-6 on the year.

The Gulls would strike first in the top of the 1st, after Annah Brittingham roped a 2 RBI single to left field, scoring Paige Knussman and Katie Sebbane. Rachel Johnson would then find her groove at the mound, slowing the Captains at the plate the next few innings. SU would then stretch their lead to 3-0, after Knussman would get an RBI base knock to center field to score Kim Dorsey. The Gulls weren’t done yet, as Brittingham would come to the plate in the 4th, and rip an RBI base knock down the third base line. The lead would hold going into the 6th, where the Captains would work to get the bases loaded with 2 outs. Johnson would then paint the outside corner for another of her 8 strike outs on the day. Knussman would then put the game away with a solo jack to lead off the 7th. Johnson would close out the game, and give the Gulls the win.

Knussman was named the Super Regionals Most Outstanding Player, while Johnson was tabbed as the Most Outstanding Pitcher.
