Vikings Baseball Upset Rival Tech, Advance

The Cape Henlopen baseball team hit the road Saturday and pulled out the upset win in the first round of the state tournament over Sussex Tech 8-4. The Vikings will now advance to face Salesianum on Tuesday.
Cape would waste little time, plating 5 runs in the top of the first. The lead looked as though it would be more than enough for Alex McCoy who had it going for the Vikings, pitching 6 2/3 innings of shutout ball. The Vikings would then push their lead to 8-0 after RBI base knocks in the 3rd from David Kwan and Zach Gelof. The shut out would hold all the way to the bottom of the 7th with 2 outs, where the Ravens showed their heart. Tech continued to battle, coming up with base knock after base knock including a 2 RBI double from Colin Bergh to cut the deficit to 8-4. The Vikings would end up closing the game though, and holding on for the win.
