Harrington man arrested on 6th DUI charge

A Harrington man was arrested over the weekend, on his reportedly sixth driving under the influence offense.

Harrington Police say on Saturday around 5:30 AM, an Officer on patrol pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation on South DuPont Highway. During the stop, Officers reportedly smelled alcohol coming from the car, sparking the administration of field sobriety tests for the driver, 56-year-old David Dale.

After the tests, Police say Dale was brought back to the Harrington Police Department, for processing. A search of Dale’s vehicle reportedly revealed drug paraphernalia, while a computer search showed that Dale had five previous DUI convictions dating back to 1987.

Dale was then charged with 6th offense driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and speeding, before being turned over to the Sussex Correctional Institute on a $7,001 secured bond.
