UPDATE: DSP arrest two in Capitol One bank robbery

Delaware State Police say they have arrested two men for the Capital One Bank robbery in Rehoboth Beach.

According to the reports, tips helped detectives identify and link 18-year-old Lamar Smith and 27-year-old Mark Smith to the robbery.

The incident happened at the Capital One Bank at 19268 Old Landing Road shortly after noon on Saturday, May 23. Officials say a 23-year-old female bank teller was approached by a man who presented her with a demand note for cash. The suspect then reportedly implied that he was armed; however, a weapon was not displayed. We’re told the suspect fled in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of cash. No injuries were reported.

On Wednesday morning, troopers say they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle identified as the suspect vehicle in the Capitol One Bank robbery. The driver Mark Smith and passenger Lamar Smith were reportedly taken into custody and interviewed, where both suspects were connected to the crime.

Lamar Smith is being charged with robbery first degree, conspiracy second degree, and wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $68,000 secured bond.
