Student charged with bringing loaded gun to school

(AP) – Newark Police say a 15-year-old student brought a loaded gun to school.
    
Officers say school authorities were talking with the student in Newark High School about 2 p.m. Thursday when they discovered the loaded semi-automatic handgun in the student’s backpack.
    
School officials confiscated the gun and called police.
    
The boy has been charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon and possession of a weapon in a safe school zone.
