AAA offers tips on identity fraud protection

Following a data breach that compromised the personal information of 4-million government employees, Triple-A is now offering tips about how to deal with the dangers of what they are calling a continuing trend of cyber-crimes.

They say if you happen to fall victim to identity theft you should act quickly and take the following measures to protect yourself.

First, if you happen to know what company the identity fraud occurred, give them a call.

Next, make a call to one of the three credit bureaus, place a fraud alert, and get your credit report.

Then, be sure to report the identity theft to the Federal Trade Commission.

There you’ll be asked to complete an FTC online complaint form.

Lastly File a report with the police.
