Ground broken for new Hurlock PD

State and local leaders took a tour of developing projects in Hurlock on Friday, starting with the Hurlock Police Department.
A new station is set to be built right across the street from its current station on Nealson Street, but the 110 year old building is not going anywhere.
Hurlock Mayor Joyce Spratt was among the community and state leaders who participated in a traditional “ground-breaking ceremony” on Friday. Mayor Spratt tells us it’s being turned into a train and city museum and says the new station will have more holding cells and be more fit for the department of ten officers.
“Chief Hutton has done a fabulous job with our police department since he came here and he’s excited. He really is and so are we, because we need it.” Says Mayor Spratt.
The tour group also visited the new solar wastewater treatment plant in town, Amick Farms, and North Dorchester High School.
