SU President announces big changes as students return for fall
SALISBURY, MD.- Salisbury University President Charles Wight announced a big change for those un-vaccinated on campus.
Any student or employee without at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine or an exemption from the university will lose access to campus beginning Monday, Sept. 6th.
He also touched on things the university has been actively doing like frequent testing, in-house contact tracing, and following health guidelines.
With the spread of the delta variant, cases rising, and a high number of unvaccinated students, President Wight says this led them to take a direction that was best for everyone’s safety. “All our protocols have tried to balance public safety with personal freedom. The fact is that we must take the steps necessary to protect all members of the campus community and do our best to provide the best possible university experience for all students,” said President Wight.
This move comes as President Wight accepts the university health teams recommendation.
It’s also consistent with the University System of Maryland’s vaccine mandate.
