Delaware Fire School receives large grant

Delaware Senators Tom Carper (D-Del.) and Chris Coons (D-Del), as well as Congressman John Carney (D-Del.) joined officials earlier today at the Delaware Fire School in Dover to announce Assistance to Firefighters grant award.

The Delaware State Fire School provides Fire, Rescue, Emergency Medical Training and Public Fire Safety Education to firefighters and EMTs from around the world.

On Tuesday, the school was awarded $531,735 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

“It’s going to provide them with a whole series of state of the art training equipment, mannequins, materials, bunker gear,” Coons said. “But most importantly a dedicated pumper fire truck that will make it possible for the Delaware State Fire School to deliver the great training that they do week in and week out for Delaware’s volunteer fire service.”
