Fatal crash closes Route 113 for four hours

Troopers from the Maryland State Police Berlin Barrack say one motorcyclist is dead following a crash that involved four vehicles.
Troopers say the area of Route 113 near Bishopville were closed for four hours on Friday afternoon while the investigation and clean up was underway.
According to the police report, around 11:30 A.M., the driver of a Lexus was attempting to turn left onto Bishopville Road, when the vehicle struck a motorcycle heading in the opposite direction on Route 113.
The Lexus reportedly proceeded across the intersection and collided with two other vehicles.
Police say the operator of the motorcycle, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the Lexus was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.
The road was reopened at about 3:30 P.M. Troopers say the investigation into the crash is ongoing, and charges are pending.
The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland Office of Chief Medical Examiner, Bishopville Fire Department and Maryland State Highway administration assisted with the incident.
