SU science camp students launch rockets

20 High School students are taking part in a Salisbury University Summer Science Camp and today, they launched their own rockets at the intramural fields at SU. Each student took turns placing their rockets on a launch pad and setting them off.

The summer program is free to students thanks to a National Science Foundation grant, which allows them to live on campus.

47 ABC spoke with Dr. Matthew Bailey, Camp Director, and Assistant Professor of Physics at SU and he tells us, “It’s to get them excited about science but also give them a college experience get them living on campus meeting with professors learn about what the college experience is like and I think that’s very important for these kids.”

The camp started this past Sunday and is expected to run until this upcoming Saturday morning.
