UPDATE: Young teen airlifted after skateboard incident

Ocean City Police Department spokesperson Lindsay Richards tells 47 ABC a young teen was involved in a pedestrian crash in the Montego Bay area of Ocean City Thursday.

Richards says around 7:37 P.M., police and EMS responded to S. Ocean Drive and Oyster Lane for reports of a young male teen involved in a motor vehicle incident. Apparently, the 14-year-old was riding a skateboard while holding on to the back of a moving vehicle.

Authorities say the boy lost his footing and fell off, resulting in serious injuries. He was reportedly not wearing protective gear.

Officials say the victim was airlifted by Maryland State Police Aviation to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

He is currently listed in critical but stable condition.

Richards tells 47 ABC the investigation into this incident is ongoing.
