Police: Woman thrown from car, man arrested

Police say a Snow Hill man is behind bars after he allegedly threw a woman out of a moving car.
According to the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO), the victim was thrown out of a moving vehicle in the 7400 block of Shockley Road on Friday afternoon.
Police say the suspect was identified as 46-year-old Rodnelle James Copes. Copes’ car was spotted in Snow Hill when police say they attempted a traffic stop; however, we’re told Copes did not stop and a pursuit took place.
According to police reports, Copes drove to 7438 Shockley Road where he allegedly fled from the vehicle to a wooded area before being arrested shortly after. He was processed and taken before the District Court Commissioner, where he was held on a $75,000 bond in the Worcester County Jail.
Copes reportedly faces numerous charges including 1st Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Assault on Law Enforcement, Resisting Arrest, and Various Traffic Charges.
