Somerset Co. organization honored

A Somerset County was honored at the 39th annual J. Millard Tawes Crab and Clam Bake on Wednesday.
The Somerset County Long Term Recovery Committee was awarded the 2015 William Donald Schaefer Helping People Award.
We’re told the reason why the committee was chosen for Somerset County was because it built a dozen homes and helped in recovery efforts following Hurricane Sandy.
Maryland comptroller Peter Franchot was present for the award.
“I mean, I just can’t tell you how important that extra bit of long-term recovery has been.” Says Franchot, “We’re grateful at the state level for them really caring about people.”
The award is given out to one group or organization in every county.
