Milford teen in critical condition after serious crash

A serious vehicle accident in Milford, that sent a teen to the hospital, is under investigation.

Delaware State Police say on Monday around 11:35 AM, a 17-year-old Milford boy, was driving a 2002 Mazda 626 on Cedar Beach Road/SR36, west of Mills Road/CR 205, when he missed a right hand curve, and drove off the roadway.

Officials say he then side swiped a tree on the driver’s side, and then hit another tree with the right front of the bumper, causing his car to be wedged between two trees.

The teen was air-lifted to Milford Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. He is reportedly currently listed in critical condition. Police say the teen was driving at an apparent high rate of speed, and that traffic charges against him are pending.

The DSP Collision Reconstruction Unit says they are continuing to investigate this incident. Both directions of Cedar Beach Road were reportedly closed for around two hours, while officials investigated, and cleared the crash.
