Devyonn Evans, 18, of Salisbury

A man is facing over 40 counts of tampering with a vehicle, after police say he was attempting to remove property from vehicles, in Salisbury.

The Salisbury Police Department says on December 8, just after 11:30 PM, members of the Salisbury PD responded to the area of Hidden Meadow Lane in reference to a subject looking into vehicle windows, in Salisbury. Once on scene, police say they noticed the suspect pull on the door handle of the vehicle, and get into the unlocked vehicle.

According to the report, as officers approached, the suspect, later identified as 18-year-old Devyonn Evans, of Salisbury, closed the door of the vehicle and attempted to walk away from the area. Authorities say Evans tried to take property from several vehicles.

Law enforcement reports that they identified several vehicles that Evans attempted to get into. Evans also reportedly tampered with multiple other vehicles in the jurisdiction of the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office.

The 18-year-old was taken into custody and  taken to the Wicomico County Detention Center. Evans is charged with eight counts of attempted theft, eight counts of rogue and vagabond, and 41 counts of tampering with a motor vehicle.
