UPDATE: Fatal motorcycle crash in Milford under investigation, victim identified

8/12 UPDATE: Delaware State Police have identified the victim as 25-year-old Dylan Jones of Milford.

The crash remains under investigation.

MILFORD, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash in Milford.

Just before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, a 1980 Kawasaki KZI motorcycle being driven by a 25-year-old Milford man was traveling southbound on Bay Road, approaching New Wharf Road. A 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV driven by a 38-year-old Milford woman was traveling on Bay Road in the right travel lane, north of New Wharf Road. For unknown reasons, the motorcycle exited the east edge of Bay Road southbound, traveled south through the grass median, entered the northbound travel lanes, and directly into the path of the Hyundai. The front of the Hyundai subsequently hit the right side of the motorcycle.

After colliding, the motorcycle came to an uncontrolled stop and came to rest on its left side. The Hyundai continued traveling north, exited the east edge of Bay Road, and hit a utility pole.

The motorcycle operator was taken to a nearby hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai and 19-year-old front seat passenger were not injured.
