Cambridge bicyclist arrested on drug charges

A Cambridge man is facing charges, after he reportedly tried to flee during a traffic stop.

Cambridge Police say on Tuesday, around 10:30 PM, Officers stopped a bicyclist on Rigby Avenue, for a traffic violation. According to the report, during the stop, the Officer smelled marijuana coming from the rider, 25-year-old Byron Herndon.

Police say Herndon then tried to flee on foot, but was apprehended after a short struggle. There was reportedly marijuana found on Herndon.

He was charged with possession of marijuana less than ten grams, resist arrest, fail to obey lawful order, disorderly conduct, disturb the peace, and fleeing and eluding on foot. Herndon was then ordered to be held at the Dorchester County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
