One killed in fatal Ocean View home fire

Authorities say one person is dead after a home fire in Ocean View.

According to the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Millville Fire Company responded to the 100-block of Woodland Avenue around 2:00 a.m. Sunday.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they reportedly found the two-story home engulfed in flames and one person dead inside the home.

The body of the victim, whose identity is currently not being released to the public at this time, has been turned over to the Division of Forensic Science (DFS) for an autopsy.

We’re told the identity of the victim and nature of death will be released by the DFS at a later time.

According to Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael Chionchio, there were no smoke alarms in the house.

Heavy fire damage is estimated at $25,000.

Investigators are still searching for the origin and cause of the fire.
