Police investigating fatal crash in Dover

DOVER, Del. – Police are investigating a single vehicle crash that claimed the life of one Friday afternoon in Dover.

At around 12:20 p.m., police say a Nissan Altima being driven by a 48-year-old Dover man was traveling northbound on Wyoming Mill Road towards Riverside Road when it failed to negotiate the curve, veered off the roadway into a private yard, and hit a tree.

Police say the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was removed from the vehicle by citizens just before the vehicle caught fire.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
