Open meetings ruling won’t bring Pocomoke Police Chief back

Another complaint was filed earlier this week to the Maryland Open Meetings Compliance Board regarding the Pocomoke City Council.
It appears three state delegates from Baltimore City, Jill Carter, Cheryl Glenn and Barbara Robinson wrote a letter to the board alleging that Mayor Bruce Morrison summoned the Council to meet in secret to fire former Chief of Police Kelvin Sewell.
The delegates have asked that if the city is found to have violated the law that the board should rule that Sewell’s firing is void.
However, sources close to the investigation say that even if the board finds the city did act illegally the board does not have the power to void Sewell’s termination.
