SU Field Hockey Shut Out Stevenson

The Salisbury University field hockey team picked up their first win of the year Tuesday night after they shut out Stevenson 5-0 at home. The win improves the Sea Gulls to 1-0 on the year.
Salisbury wasted little time before getting on the board after Casie Preisch scored off a penalty stroke just under 9 minutes into the game. Courtney Jantzen would then add an unassisted goal to give the Gulls a 2-0 lead headed into the locker room. Jantzen would score again to open up the second half to push the lead to 3-0, before Preisch would get her 2nd goal of the game at the 49th minute to push the lead to 4-0. Finally, Delmar grad Sam Johnson would rifle home a shot from the top of the arc for the final score of the game.
The Gulls defense was solid all day long, while still never getting tested to much. Tressie Windsor got the win in goal, while recording just 5 saves. In contrast, Gabriella Brooks recorded 22 saves in the loss for the Mustangs.
Salisbury University returns to action Friday when they Travel to play in the Misericordia Invitational.
