Md. man charged with shooting teen athletes with BB gun

A 25-year-old man has been charged with firing a BB gun at high school athletes as they ran cross-country on a field at their Baltimore County school.

County police say 25-year-old Christopher Swayer-Schweigman fired the gun at the runners from the window of his apartment near Dulaney High School in Timonium on Friday afternoon. Two tenth-graders, one boy and one girl, were struck by pellets and injured. Police say their parents took them to hospitals for treatment.

Police say they got a search warrant for Swayer-Schweigman’s apartment and found the BB rifle inside.

Police have not detailed a motive for the shootings.

Swayer-Schweigman faces charges including first-degree assault. He’s being held on $100,000 bail. No attorney is listed for him in online court records.
