Sept. 8 – Home Fire Campaign

The American Red Cross of Delmarva is partnering with the Salisbury Fire Department and other community organizations for a life saving smoke alarm installation campaign. for a life saving smoke alarm installation campaign. The initiative is part of the national American Red Cross Home Fire Campaign designed to reduce deaths and injuries from home fires by as much as 25 percent over the next five years.
Door knocking operations will take place Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Salisbury and Pocomoke City. Teams of American Red Cross volunteers and fire department staff will go door to door speaking with residents to educate them about fire safety and fire evacuation plans, and installing FREE smoke alarms in homes that are not properly equipped.
“Salisbury and Pocomoke City are areas that have been deemed high fire risk,”said Patrick K. Delaney, Executive Director of the American Red Cross of Delmarva. “We want to ensure resident’s safety by educating them on how to prepare for a home fire, what to do should a home fire occur, and equipping them with live saving resources by installing smoke alarms in homes needing them.”
Residents who are in need of a smoke alarm can contact the Salisbury Fire Department directly between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to request a smoke alarm installation at their residence.
