Harrington man issued 4th DUI

Eric Pitts, 43

Members of the Harrington Police Department say they arrested Eric Pitts, 43, of Milton, for his fourth offense of driving under the influence.

Police say on September 7, 2015, Pitts was driving south on DuPont Highway at around 11:50 P.M., and was stopped for traveling 52 MPH in a 35 MPH zone.

An officer reportedly stopped the vehicle, contacted Pitts, and detected an odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle.

Authorities say Pitts was administered a field of sobriety tests, and after completing the tests he was taken into custody and transported to the Harrington Police Department for processing.

Police say it was after a computer check that they discovered Pitts had three prior DUI offenses dating back to 1991.

Police charged him with 4th Offense driving under the influence, driving with a suspended or revoked license, speeding, and failure to have registration card in possession.

Harrington PD say Pitts was issued a $5,700 cash bail.

He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute after failing to post bond.
