Glovier Dazzles as Pocomoke Rolls Mardela

The Pocomoke boys soccer team hit the road Tuesday afternoon and defeated Mardela 6-0 behind 4 goals form senior Jacob Glovier. The win improves the Warriors to 3-0, while the loss drops the Warriors to 1-2.

Pocomoke grabbed a quick lead after Noah Brittingham was able to find the back of the net less than 5 minutes into the contest. Shortly after that, the lead would stretch to 2-0 after Jacob Glovier would take a pass from Skylar Williams, settle it and fire it home far post. Pocomoke would add their final goal of the first half after Glovier drew a penalty in the box, and then would score the following penalty kick.

Mardela struggled to maintain possession of the ball long enough to generate much of an offensive attack, but Cole Lambrose was able to get contested shots off on goal. Lambrose was being spotted by Jameel Baldin who did a superb job all game long. And even when Lambrose was able to get a shot on goal, they were all turned away by Pocomoke keeper Jared Hancock. Glovier would continue his offensive display in the second half, opening the scoring with a beautiful chip shot from the top of the box, set up from a great pass from Gustavo Enriquez. Glovier would go on to add one more goal late, as did Luke Speta.

Pocomoke returns to action next Tuesday when they host to Crisfield, while Mardela travels to St. Michaels on Thursday.
