Carper reacts to tax reform bills

While in Delaware, Senator Tom Carper addressed the tax reform bill that is currently making its way through congress.
The senator tells 47ABC that this bill is what he calls, "a mixed bag," for those on Delmarva.
He says some will see lower taxes, while others will be paying more.
Carper explained that he believes the bill is unfair because the corporate tax cuts in the bill are permanent and tax cuts for middle income families are not. He also says that the lion's share of the cuts are going to the top one percent.
He went on to say this will not help grow the economy, it could make the 70,000-page code longer, and increase the debt in the process.
Carper hopes after the Thanksgiving break legislative leaders from both parties can work together, similar to Republican President Reagan and Democratic House Speaker Tip O'Neill during the tax reform of 1986.
"I always like to say I know I can do better. I think we'll end up with a better plan if we come back after Thanksgiving and really do put our nose to the grindstone and try hard to do it together."
Maryland's eastern shore representative Andy Harris released a statement on the same issue:
"I am proud to support the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act passed by the House today. It will stimulate our nation's economy, create jobs, and put more m"I am proud to support the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act passed by the House today. It will stimulate our nation's economy, create jobs, and put more money into the pockets of hardworking Americans."
