SU Men’s Soccer Shuts Out Neumann
The 19th ranked Salisbury University men’s soccer team took the field Saturday afternoon looking to get their first win of the season over the Neumann University Knights.
The Seal Gulls came out flying around the field offensively, while gaining their momentum from their big defensive plays – including a play when Cy McNeil cleared a ball off the goal line to keep the game scoreless. Later in the first half, McNeil got into the offensive side of things as well – a great give-and-go then laid it off to Matt Greene inside the 18′ where he finished it off with his left foot to help the Gulls take a 1-0 lead over the Knights.
Neumann University was unhappy with the officiating in today’s game against Salisbury and it resulted in several yellow cards. The Knights put a lot of pressure on the Gulls, but with the help of Drew Staedeli (5 saves today), Salisbury walked away with their third shut out of the season as they took down the Knights, 1-0.
The Gulls are back in action on Wednesday against Eastern at home – kick off is set for 4:00 pm.
