Nj. man charged after Milton crash

A New Jersey man has been arrested and charged with a DUI after police say he crashed his truck into two trees, before the truck caught on fire.
We’re told the crash happened around 5 a.m. Sunday when 25-year-old Michael Fitzpatrick was traveling northbound on Union Street Extended, approaching Coastal Highway.
Police say Fitzpatrick’s truck crossed both the southbound and northbound lanes of Coastal Highway and entered Brumbley’s Family Park. According to police reports, the truck initially struck two tree stumps and a decorative rock before it hit a large tree.
Corporal Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police tells 47 ABC the truck then caught fire, catching the tree on fire, as well as causing heat damage to a nearby home.
Troopers reportedly responded to find Fitzpatrick still inside the vehicle unconscious and laying across the front seat. We’re told because the doors were locked, a trooper broke out the driver’s side window and was able to pull the driver from the burning truck.
Fitzpatrick was transported to Bayhealth Milford Memorial, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
He was cited for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.
