Bucs use strong second half to down Seahawks

The Kent Island Buccaneers bounced back from their first loss last week, defeating Stephen Decatur 14-3 on Friday night.

Both teams would stall drives back and forth in the first half, with Stephen Decatur converting on a field goal just as the first half expired, to take a 3-0 lead into the break.

The Bucs would get their offense rolling in the second half. Quarterback Luke Fromert hit sophomore wide receiver Sean Mooney for a 34-yard touchdown late in the third quarter to take a 7-3 lead. Running back Joe Sweet would score KI’s second touchdown of the night.

The loss is Decatur’s first of the year, they take on undefeated North Caroline next Friday, while Kent Island travels to Salisbury to take on a winless WiHi squad.
