Parkside boys soccer prevails over Decatur

The Parkside boys’ soccer team escaped Berlin on Tuesday night with a hard fought victory, defeating Stephen Decatur 1-0.
With a scoreless game more than halfway thru the contest, Parkside forward Jarod Ramses lined up for a corner kick. Ramses kick bounced just in front of the goal, narrowly missing defender Sean Fisher’s foot, to a waiting Connor Houtman. With the goalie Noah Shockley now charging, Houtman calmly touched the ball after the second bounce, with the inside of his right foot into his to give his team the lead in the 54th minute.
“Both teams had alot of chances, most of the time we couldn’t finish them, but I managed to get one in the back of the net, give our team the lead, and we managed to hold on from there.” said Houtman.
Both teams are back in action on Thursday, Parkside hosts Kent Island, while Stephen Decatur hosts North Caroline.
