Crisfield native plans to leave town for storm

Officials and residents are preparing for hurricane Joaquin in Crisfield. Although it’s fair to say most people in that area are used to flooding, our crew met one local woman Thursday who says she’s not taking the chance.
Ella Mae Graham is a Crisfield native. She says she’s been through hurricane’s before and doesn’t plan to do it again. She says she’s headed up to Salisbury Thursday afternoon and will remain there until the rain is over.
Graham says, “I’m out of here. I come back when the water goes back down. This water comes up all the way to my door and I’m crippled. I can’t just hope out and go running to my car.”
Crisfield City Manager Rick Pollitt says the city has a process in place if there is a need for a formal evacuation and that’s coordinated through the county commissioners.
