DSU Drop MEAC Opener To Morgan State

The DSU Hornets opened MEAC play on Saturday against Morgan State – their first game since September 19. Despite several football games being cancelled around Delmarva – the Hornets decision was to play – despite any foul weather conditions.

While DSU dropped a heart-breaker a couple weeks ago to Chowan after missing the extra point at the end of the game – Morgan State was coming into the game with momentum after a win over Howard last week. The 70-year strong rivalry against the Bears never sells short of an exciting game and this year’s game featured one of Woodbridge High School’s alumni – Logan Wescott, who got his first start at safety and finished with four tackles.

The game held a lot of  big defensive plays for both teams in the rainy conditions outside made it tough for the offense to get things going. The Hornets tied the game up at 6 when Esayah Obado avoided the sack, found Malik Goldson, and he finished out the 65 yard touchdown play. However, the Hornets found themselves unable to score throughout the remainder of the game, while the Bears added another 20 points to lead them to a 26-6 victory over the Hornets.

DSU falls to 0-4 on the season and  0-1 in MEAC play, but they look to rebound from this loss next week on the road against Hampton – kick off is set for 2:00 pm.
