One charged with attempted burglary of car lot in Dover

A man has been charged, after he was apparently seen trying break into a local business.

Dover Police say on Friday morning, around 1:25 AM, 22-year-old Edward Thomas was seen attempting to kick in the door to Delaware Auto Sales on West Division Street. Officers responded, and once on scene, say they found Thomas hiding inside of his blue Chevrolet Venture mini-van.

Police say Thomas refused to get out of the van, and had to be physically removed, when taken into custody. According to the report, Thomas damaged four other windows to the business, and tried to steal several tools from the garage of the business as well.

Police say they charge Thomas with attempted burglary 3rd degree, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest. Bond information was not immediately available.
