SU Field Hockey Shuts Out St. Mary’s

The No. 5 Salisbury University field hockey team topped St. Mary’s 2-0 Wednesday night in a Capital Athletic Conference showdown. The win improves the Sea Gulls to 10-2 on the year.
Salisbury would jump out to a 1-0 lead just over 12 minutes into the match when Courtney Jantzen found Becca Rinaca for the score on a break away. It would remain a 1 goal lead til late in the first half, when Catherine Sweeney would come up with a loose ball in front of the cage, and slam it home. The Gulls would transition to more of a defensive approach the second half. Tressie Windsor would only see one shot on goal all night as the back line of the defense continually cleared balls and did a great job of limiting any scoring opportunities for the Seahawks.
Salisbury University returns to work Saturday when they travel to No. 13 Mary Washington.
